At LuKnox Farms, we believe food doesn’t always need to be complicated.
We value food that is recognizable, thoughtfully grown, and connected to the land it came from.
A tomato should taste like a tomato.
Children should be able to pull a carrot from the soil and understand exactly where it came from.
Families should have opportunities to learn about the methods used to grow the food they eat.
Our philosophy is centered around transparency and simplicity. We are interested in growing practices that prioritize healthy soil, responsible stewardship, reduced reliance on unnecessary chemical inputs, and thoughtful food production.
We also believe families should be encouraged to ask questions.
- Where was this grown?
- How was it grown?
- What was used during the growing process?
- Can I grow this myself?
Those questions matter.
- We aren’t interested in creating fear around food.
- We are interested in creating knowledge about food.
The more people understand about gardening, agriculture, soil, ingredients, preservation, and food preparation, the more informed their choices can become.
That’s especially important for children.
When children participate in growing food, fruits and vegetables stop being mysterious items sitting on a grocery store shelf. They become something tangible.
- A seed becomes a plant.
- A plant produces food.
- Food nourishes a family.
And leftover organic material can return to the earth through composting and begin the process again.
That’s the beautiful simplicity we want families to experience through LuKnox Farms.
We’re getting back to the basics—not because the past was perfect, but because some lessons are worth carrying forward.
Know your food. Know how it’s grown. And teach the next generation to do the same.
